The Cantareira System guarantees the water supply to the metropolitan regions of S\u00e3o Paulo, Campinas, and Piracicaba<\/em><\/p>\n It is possible to leave the city of S\u00e3o Paulo and, in less than one hour and a half by car, reach two of the five reservoirs that compose the Cantareira System: Paiva Castro, in Mairipor\u00e3, and Atibainha, in Nazar\u00e9 Paulista. Much of it comes from springs located in 12 municipalities, four of them in the State of Minas Gerais (Camanducaia, Extrema, Itapeva and Sapuca\u00ed-Mirim), and eight in the State of S\u00e3o Paulo (Bragan\u00e7a Paulista, Caieiras, Franco da Rocha, Joan\u00f3polis, Nazar\u00e9 Paulista, Mairipor\u00e3, Piracaia and Vargem).
